Hardscratch Store now sign-up point for Address Markers

By Kirby Hancock, ACHS FFA AdviserWe are happy to announce that another retail location has came on board to help FFA promote and sell the 911 Address Markers. Hardscratch Country Store, owned by Ken and Vicki Hill, located at 7694 Hwy 55 RD South, Glensfork, Ky will serve as our newest pick-up and drop off location for sign orders. This should make it more convenient for local residents, fish fry patrons, and gun store customers to gain access to the signs. Owner Ken Hill can vouch for the importance of the signs serving as a retired Kentucky State Trooper. Those placing orders for signs and/or posts at Hardscratch should expect a turn around time of about 2-3 (school days). Orders may also be placed at Day & Day Feed and Pet Store and M & W Milling. -Kirby Hancock

KSP Post 15 Senior Tpr. Fred Cornett saves life of hanging victim

Senior Trooper Cornett, a resident of Washington Co., KY, saves person hanging by noose from a tree, arranges EMS transfer to Lifepoint Springview Hospital in Lebanon where victim was treated and later released

By TFC Billy Gregory, Public Affairs Officer
Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

COLUMBIA, KY - On Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 4:10pmET, Kentucky State Police Post 15 received a littering complaint on Chaplin Road in Washington County. Senior Trooper Fred Cornett was dispatched to the caller's residence where he was told someone had been dumping trash on the caller's property at Tatum Springs Road, also in Washington County.

Tpr. Cornett was following the complainant to the property when he passed by a residence and observed a person hanging from a tree. Tpr. Cornett immediately stopped and exited his car. He ran to the person, grabbed him around the waist and lifted him up, taking the pressure off of the chain. This allowed the original caller, who had also stopped, to remove the noose from around the person's neck. Tpr. Cornett then lowered the person to the ground.

Realizing that the person was still alive and beginning to breathe, at 4:35 EDT Tpr. Cornett radioed to Post 15 dispatch, asking for EMS. Washington County EMS arrived on the scene and the subject was taken to Lifepoint Springview Medical Center in Lebanon, KY, where he was treated and later released.

Tpr. Cornett is an 8 year veteran of the Kentucky State Police and resides in Washington County.

Due to the nature of the incident, no personal information about the victim will be released. Others assisting Tpr. Cornett have asked to remain anonymous.

Trucker says too many drivers won't move from left lane

About: Trucker urges slower drivers to remember to keep right

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I completely agree with Mr Hale. I'll average about 60,000 miles per year and constantly deal with drivers (typically on cell phones) who won't move from the left lane. Not to mention - it's discourteous and can also be very unsafe. Too many drivers don't understand how multi-lane highways were built, I suppose.
