Obituary: Leoner Bennett, 89, Columbia, KY

Mrs. Bennett was the matriarch of a large, respected Adair County family. She lives 76 living descendants

Leoner Bennett, 89, Collumbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 6:55pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral service will be Friday, June 5, 2009, at 10:00amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, with burial in Morris Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00pmCT, on Thursday, June 5, 2009.

CU baseball player named NAIA Champion of Character

Nathan Quesenberry, Elizabethtown, KY senior, selected from among nine other players at the NAIA World Series

Not all baseball recognition comes because of what you do between the lines.Nathan Quesenberry, a senior from Elizabethtown, was named the Champion of Character for all of NAIA baseball when a coaching committee voted him to the honor from among nine other players at the NAIA World Series.

The Columbia-Adair County Fire Dept. will be out this weekend manning roadblocks for the 56th annual WHAS Crusade for Children.

The hours will be:
  • Friday, June 5, 2009: 3-8:00pm
  • Saturday, June 6, 2009: 8:00-4:00pmCT, with the live remote WBKO starting at 6:00pmCT at the Adair County Elementary School, 870 Indiana Drive, Columbia, KY.
Every penny of funds raises in Adair County for the WHAS Crusade for Children is returned to Adair County in the form of grants.

No word on whereabouts of Tasha, missing Pekapoo

Readers are asked to remain on the lookout for Tasha, a little female Pekapoo missing in the Montpelier area in Eastern Adair County near the Russell County line.

Marty Brown reports that there is no sign of her pet, posted on CM as missing yesterday. "I searched the woods yesterday looking for remains in case a coyote got her," she writes. "No sign," she said. She thanks everyone for their concern and will let readers know if Tasha turns up.
