Feedback: 206 is my home

New Hope SBC Fall Festival

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

To All Those "Good People" whom I miss very much - if my grandson didn''t have a football game I'd certainly try to make this. Much of my childhood and high school days were spent at some location on 206 or neighborhood right around there. Remember Youngs' store and postoffice; Bryants' store, etc. I always tell everyone 206 is my home and that I would feel welcome if I just went up to anyone's door that I still know from there and feel as welcome as if I'd never left.

SOUTH 61 ISSUE: Insult added to sacrifice when road delayed

Writer wonders why family had to sacrifice physical memories of grandparents' businesses and of old Flatwoods for road which is not being built. " . . . those people in Frankfort have no idea how dangerous that stretch of road can be," Cheryl Tarter says.
About: Mayor Bell's letter to Joe Prather

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

The cancellation of the Highway 61 road project was like a slap in the face for my family and I.

Although others may have considered our property somewhat of an eyesore, it held many wonderful memories for our family.

For many years my grandparents and great-grandparents lived and served their community from this location. My grandmother, known to all who loved her as Ms. Dorothy, ran Wooten's Grocery, while my grandfather owned and operated Wooten's Hickory Mill.
