BJ Fudge identifies ridge layers in vantage point mystery photo

A familiar Adair Co. scene: Do you know vantage point?

Hey Ed,

I am not able to access your server to bring up your photo of the CourthouseSteeple to study it further, however I do have an answer for the two ridges behind the Courthouse from the photographers vantage point.

The low ridge appearing immediately behind the Courthouse is the ridge that runs, more or less Southeast to Northwest along the Gaylord Henson Road.

CU Professor Teaching at 2008 Governor's Scholar Program

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.


Dr. Frieda Gebert, associate professor of music at Campbellsville University, has spent part of her summer teaching in the Govenor's Scholars Program at Morehead State University.

The selection process for joining the faculty is very rigorous including an application and personal interview, Gebert said. In fact, Gebert is only the second member of the CU faculty ever to be chosen, along with Dr. Patrick King, a former professor of the School of Education. She is the first in a decade to be chosen from Campbellsville University.

Adair County Tourism at $9.53 million in 2007

Up 2% from over previous year, Travel Industry of America says says

From Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce

Statistics released by the Kentucky Department of Travel this week show that tourism in Adair County was up by 2 percent in 2007, according to an annual report complied by the Travel Industry Association (TIA) in Washington, DC.

The figures indicate a 3.7 percent increase statewide which added $10.7 billion to the state's economy and $9,530,030.00 to Adair County's economy.

The Adair County Coach Pitch Allstars competed this weekend in the Heart of Kentucky Invitational in Marion County.

We are so proud of the players: Blake Biggs, Jeremiah Cangelosi, Layndon Carter, Mason Carter Hunter Cundiff, Adam Doss, Kyle Estes, Will Feese, Cody Hourigan, James Owens, C.J. Rodgers, and Luke Stephens.

The coaches are Scotty Carter, Craig Feese, Bo Biggs, Paul Cundiff,Tonya Feese, and Brian Doss.

Two men arrested on burglary charges

Adair County Deputy Sheriff Tracy McCaroll, assisted by Columbia Police Department officers Jr. Murphy and Josh Brockman arrested two men, one from Indiana, the other from Russell County, in connection with a burglary on Holiday Cemetery Road.

The Adair County Sheriff Department responded to burglary which occurred 3 miles East of Columbia on Holiday Cemetery Road.
