Letter: Reader commends Billy Rice

DISCOUNT AUTO

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Billy Rice's is the place to go! In 2005 I took a job that was 35 miles from home, so wanted to find a more economical vehicle than my fullsize pickup. I bought a 2004 Kia Rio with 3000 miles on it that had been a rental, and had been in a minor accident. Billy's shop did the repairs (I was able to see exactly what damage had been done), and I ended up with almost a new car and a great deal. It's never gotten less than 30 mpg, eventhough it now has over 94,000 miles on it. All I've done is change the oil--and rubber! :) Thanks Billy Rice!

Tomatoes are coming on

2008-06-27 - Farmers Market, Adair Extension Center Parking Lot, Fairground ST, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Ralph Willis sold the last tray of green tomatoes for $1. A good price for a mess for frying. Soon his tomatoes will be ripe, along corn, squash, cucumbers, bell sweet pepper, and more, at his Willis & Willis Vegetable Garden, on Willis Street at Rule, between Hurt & Harvey Streets, right beside the Old Barn. Farm fresh produce will also be sold there, he said. Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, June 27, 2008" feature, with more of Today's Picture Album.

Again, thanks to everyone involved with the auction. Thanks to everyone who attended and to those who missed it --hope to see you next year!

Watch Lance Burton cut Barbara Walters in half tonight

A reader reminds Adair Countians that Adair County's favorite magician will cut Barbara Walters in two on the VIEW on ABC, Friday, June 27, 2008. "Check local listings," she suggests.

The reader takes pride in the presence of the impressive Adair County landmark, "Magic Acres" in Eastern Adair County, and in her own kinship. "My sister's husband's sister's grandson," is how the relationship is described. "Talk about close kin!" she writes. "Can reflected glory glow from that distance?" she asks. The answer is that with a magnificent luminary like Cousin (to all Adair Countians) Lance, it can. Hope everyone tunes in.
