Fountain Plaza is on: Visionary ponders next need

2008-05-24 - Fountain Plaza, Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
The Fountain is Flowing, in time for the Summer Tourist Season, and Joe Moore, who oversees the fountain, ponders the next step improvement for the plaza. The basin of the pool has been painted, but the tables, benches, and grid work are needing a new coat of black paint and the exact placement of the new bicycle rack being donated for the plaza by Lindsey Wilson College's maintenance department still needs to be worked out. Mr. Moore said that in the past, goldfish have been added to the pool, and he is thinking about putting them or other aquatic life in the pool it make it more interesting. The geraniums which the Adair County Garden Club planted at look good, and the vinca is growing. There is a lot to consider, but he's encouraged by all that is happening, including the prospect that a new occupant may be moving into the building most recently occupied by La Paloma and before that, the delightful Cafe Columbia.

Do not disturb: Old Clearsprings Rd. is Shamarie's holler

Comment re: Tree tunnels, etc. Photo

To ColumbiaMagazine.com
Now why did you have to tell everybody where we live. This is my holler. Did you like it?s/Shamarie Claiborne

It's great. Adair County has so many secret places it's hard to choose which is the most wonderful. But Old Clearsprings Road has to rank near the top. EW. PS: I think that I saw the first blue heron I ever say in Adair County along the creek on Old Clearspring Road.

Repairs made to scenic Old Clearsprings Road

By Ed Waggener

Old Clearsprings Road creek crossings were repaired this past week by the Adair County Road Department this week, making travel across the scenic connector lane much easier and safer.

Washouts from the February 6, 2008 floods had made travel difficult across the road until now.

Two of the three drybridges on the short road were repoured this week under the supervision of the ACRD's Gary Samuell and Terry Williams, who completed the work with the help of four Adair County Regional Jail inmate workers.
