Letter: Recycling center newbie finds it's easy, fast

Drive up service: Adair Co. Recycling Center staff even unloads
To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I have been inspired by the articles on columbiamagazine.com to recycle.Detergent, fabric softener, Clorox bottles, gallon milk jugs, pizza and cereal boxes make up a big portion of our trash.

Then if you order something and receive it thru the mail you have all the boxes and then there are the magazines and newspapers that we get through the mail.

The NEW SUPER WALMART in Holladay Place is looking more and more like a finished store. The huge store should be open on schedule in October of 2008, Danny Bragg, manager of the Columbia Wal-Mart store says. Remarkable progress continues on the store. Above, as it appeared in the evening sun on Derby Day, May 3, 2008, from the access ramp from Burkesville Road at mile marker 47 on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway.

Letter to Editor: Protest smoking ban resolution

This letter is comment on EARLIER STORY

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I just read the report from the Adair County Board of Health and find it hard to believe we have such a group of communist thinking, wannabe dictators in our county. I wonder how many meals and suits of clothes tobacco has provided them with, either directly or indirectly.

Our nation was formed on the basis of FREEDOM, now we have a few people that want to impose their wishes on everyone. I understand their right to not smoke or be around it. I also agree on our government buildings, hospitals and like places being smoke free, because we all have to go there from time to time, and if you don't like smoke I respect your right to not be aroundsmokers.

Feedback: Betty Sue Jasper captured a big sun dog

Betty Sue Jasper's Magficient Colors in the sky Photo

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

What Ms. Jasper captured in this image is whats commonly referred to as a sun dog. A sun dog is a rainbow-like spot in a cirrus cloud. Light shining through ice crystals in the cloud makes a sun dog, much like light shining through raindrops makes a rainbow.

City of Columbia, KY council meeting agenda for May 5, 2008

The following contains the officially released City Council agenda items only for the regular May 5, 2008, meeting of the Columbia City Council. The agenda is short of specificity, as past City Council public agenda's have proven to be. The meeting is open to the public. Citizens should attend, if only to see if any major proposals are sprung on the Council with a warning that it is urgent to act on a subject most of the council--and for sure the public and media--has heard about only seconds before. -ED WAGGENER
