AC Health Dept. reminds us of Great American Smokeout

On November 16, 2006 the nation will participate in an event called The Great American Smokeout. This is a yearly event that challenges all smokers to quit for this one day.

ACHS State Champ Band comes home laughing?

THE ADAIR COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND WON STATE HONORS Saturday night in Bowling Green. So why did everyone come home laughing? Director Tim Allen blushed beet red as he told the crowd that he dreaded seeing what photos may leak to media from the awards party after they won. His comments about dressing up like a woman and sleeping with Bob had the band members and boosters roaring with laughter and cheering him on. And what was that comment about not getting off all his mascara? Yet-to-be confirmed rumors have it that there was a special deal made if they won the competition. They won. They celebrated. They are safely home. We'll see what secrets they share as news comes in.

ACHS Band wins state competition in Class AAA

The Adair County High School Marching Band won in Class AAA state competition Saturday night in an exciting challenge that allowed them to come out on top by seven-tenths of one point. They went into the semi-finals with a 3-year-undefeated record and came out on top state-wide.

Obituary: Eva Rae Roy, 75, member Freedom Church of God

Ms. Roy was a long-time employee of Young & Wilson Drug Store

Eva Rae Roy, 75, a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, formerly of the Ozark Community in Adair County, KY, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2006, at 11:45am CT, at Summit Manor after a long illness.

The funeral service will be Monday, November 6, 2006, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Carlie Riggs the officiating clergy.

A GOOD NAME COUNTS IN KENTUCKY COUNTY NAMES, PART I

Having a good name is no small matter. Proverbs 22:1 tells us, "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." Ecclesiastes 7 declares that a good name is better than a fine perfume; I think that the reverse meaning of this passage is true as well, because having a bad name can really stink things up for a person.
