Industrial Authority meets at noon, Tuesday, September 5, 2006 Tuesday, September 5, 2006: The Columbia Adair County Industrial Development Authority (CACIDA) will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Noon CT in the Chamber Board Room, in the Chamber headquarters at the southeast corner of Fortune and Burkesville Streets. Regular meetings have been changed to the first Tuesday at noon. CACIDA board regular meetings are each first Wednesday. By statute, meetings are open to the public. Members of the board are Chairman Barry Corbin, and members Monica Rodgers, Barry Loy, Jason Corbin, Randy Nelson, and Mike Neal. Plumgrannies harvested on Burton Ridge are ready to share by Billie Kay Farris bfarris4@alltel.net When I was in grade school at Vester we took plumgrannies to school for theteacher to keep on her desk to perfume the room. My grandmother Gracie Burtongrew them in her garden, as did many others. The plumgranny is no longercommonly grown and has come close to becoming folklore. However, a few years agoArvil Roy gave me some seed, and I have been growing them ever since. Rochelle Annette Smith Blair, 68, died August 14, 2006, in Jacksonville, FL, and will be sadly missed. She was born and raised in Columbia, KY. She owned her own business, along with her son and daughter-in-law, for the past 25 years. Before starting her business, she was a free-lance reporter and worked on several high profile stories. Customers of Windstream can get on callback list for DSL service If service is not yet in your area, here's number for one representative who will call back when it is available; website address below Help may be on the way for Windstream customers in the Bliss area and westward to Big Creek who want DSL broadband internet connection. Windstream workers say that the service should be in the area between two miles any direction from the intersection of the Edmonton Road and Milltown Church Road any day now. Today, when Windstream was contacted, I was told that when the service is available, the representative will call me. This is a major change from previous customer service people, who insisted I call back every once in a while to get the service.
