Obituary: Matthew Troy Hamrick, 21

Matthew Hamrick died as result of auto accident Tuesday. He was employed by Cox Interior. He was a member Army National Guard. He attended Trinity UMC and was engaged to Jessica Smith of Columbia, KY

Matthew Troy Hamrick, 21, Columbia, Ky. formerly of Cayce, Ky. died Tuesday August 15, 2006 at 7:10pm ET, at the University of Louisville Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Tuesday morning, which occurred in Taylor County, on KY 55, South of Campbellsville, KY.

The Funeral service Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 at 11:00 A. M. at R. D. Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY, with Rev. Geoffrey Hamrick offficiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Clinton, KY.

Mayor Bell urges new Parks & Recreation Board to think big

Board organizes. Charles Grimsley elected chairman. David Herbst is vice chairman. Richard Phelps is secretary-treasurer.

Charles Grimsley was unanimously elected Chairman of Columbia's new Parks & Recreation Board, at its first meeting, Thursday, August 17, 2006, in City Hall.

David Herbst was elected Vice Chairman, and Richard Phelps will be the group's secretary-treasurer.

Zion Leekie Willis, son of Deidre Willis, was stillborn Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 2:40am ET, in Lexington, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 1:00pm CT, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Joseph Payne officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

P&R Board will meet in City Hall, not Annex Building

Parks & Recreation Board will meet in City Hall, not Annex Building
School board meeting may offer more on school opening, sale of land; Parks & Recreation Board meeting for first time ever

Two very important public meetings will take place tonight, both at 7:00pm.
  1. The regular meeting of the Adair County School Board tonight at 7:00pm is anything but regular. A long agenda includes an item to revisit the opening date of school again. And, an executive session, closed to the public and press, will consider the sale of land. The public may learn afterward whether it has to do with the sale of land for the Western Bypass or the sale of Knifley, Shepherd, and Sparksville Schools. To see the agenda, Click here

  2. And, Thursday, August 17, 2006 7:00pm CT:Councillor Charles Grimsley announced that the first Columbia Parks & Recreation Board meeting will be in City Hall (not Adair County Annex as previously announced). The board members are Richard Phelps, Donna Shirley, Charles Grimsley, David Herbst, and Greg Thomas. The meeting is open to the public, Mr. Grimsley said. Regular meetings will be each third Thursday at 7:00pm CT.

Russell County man tries to sell fencing wire to wrong man;

When Timothy Barrett went to the home of Jimmy Luttrell and tried to sell him some fencing wire that had been stolen from Phillips Agri-Supply in Campbellsville,. he made a bad error in his marketing plan.

Luttrell is an officer with the Columbia Police Department. He arrested Barrett, 49, Russell County, and charged him with receiving stolen property over $300.
