Mallard and Basham captured in Christian County

Two men who walked away from the Restrictive Custody Center are back in Columbia, KY, after just six days of freedom. This time they are confined in more secure Adair County Regional Jail
The two escapees from Adair County's Restrictive Custody Center have been recaptured in Christian County.

City Pool open longer: Brandon Thompson in flight



2006-07-31 - City Pool, Fairgrounds, Columbia, KY - Photo Greg Thomas. BRANDON THOMPSON is a boy in flight in this photo of fun at the City Pool. Splashdowns like the one he is about to experience will be possible two weeks longer, thanks to the delay in opening Adair County Schools. The City Pool will remain open until school starts. That target date, for now, is August 24, 2006.

Russell Lee Wood JR arrested for murder of mother

KSP Detective Moses makes arrest at UL Hospital at noon today

Detective Donnie Moses of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, arrested Russell Lee Wood JR at the University of Louisville Hospital at 12:25pm, Monday, July 31, 2006, on a murder warrant. Wood was lodged in the Marion County Jail, Lebanon, KY.

SEE THE FIELD: Golfing technique helped understand Cowpens

In the touching golf film, The Legend of Bagger Vance, a clever golf caddy told his recovering alcoholic champion to emulate his opponent, the legendary Bobby Jones. He challengeed him to "see the field," meaning to visualize where you want to go with the ball. The results of that lesson were astounding as the nerve-rattled golfer found his game and won the match. Arriving at Cowpens National Battlefield near Chesnee, South Carolina, I accepted the challenge to "see the field".
