Pen and ink sketch of the Adair County Courthouse

2023-01-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Carrie Lantz, courtesy JIM.
JIM writes, "This beautiful pen and ink sketch of the courthouse appeared on the front page of the Adair County News a half-century ago -- January 3, 1973. The image occupied just a couple of column-inches short of two-thirds of the page. For the record, the artist, Carrie Lantz, still lives in Lexington.

Happy New Year, Adair County!"

The original cutline read:
WITH THE COMING OF THE NEW YEAR, thoughts of "new things" should be tempered with the remembrance of some of the county's old things, such as the Adair County Courthouse. This pen and ink drawing of the beautiful old structure" was done by Frankfort artist Carrie Lantz. Those who would like to preserve the sketch should remember that newspaper fades when unpreserved. The drawing may be mounted on heavy paper, allowed to dry, and then sprayed with a fixative or light lacquer compound. It should then be framed and the openings around the backing sealed with heavy masking tape.
