Remembering Stanley Paul Parnell, Sparksville native

2022-07-27 - Adair County, KY - Photo from Rebecca Collier.
Stanley Parnell grew up in southern Adair County, KY. Among his many family members surviving are his five brothers - Jesse, Willard, Harmon, Allan, and Lewis; and his sister, Del.

Bluegrass Honor Flight wrote, "today, we lost part of our family, WWII Marine Veteran Stanley Parnell. Mr. Parnell, a decorated Marine and recipient of the Purple Heart, was drafted at the age of 18 and served in May 1943 to December 1945. He served in both Guam and Iwo Jima...and was wounded at Iwo Jima. He took his Honor Flight in 2017 with us and continued to join us at several events, with the last one being our recent D-Day event. He was never without his Marine hat and his contagious smile....we are so very blessed to know him. Our prayers are with his family and friends...Semper Fi...Job Well Done Marine!"
