Concord School, Fairplay, KY, 1909

In the background of the school group picture is the old log Concord Methodist Church house, 1 1/2 miles south of Fairplay, KY. It was used for our school house from 1909 to the mid-term of the session of 1911. After this, the school moved to a new one room school house 1/2 mile farther south on John Bennett's farm. It was built by our parents and called Walnut Grove School.

  • Letha Wheat. 2nd wife of Uncle Charlie Green,
  • Buford Wheat. Sister of Letha Wheat. 2nd wife of Charlie Mitchain,
  • Emma Wheat. Sister of Letha Wheat,
  • Corda Mae Green. Daughter of Bud Green. Moved to Campbellsville about 1911,
  • Rosabell Sparks. Foster daughter of Johnny and Sara Young. Married Ulis Garrett, had 4 children and moved to Harvard, IL about 1920.
  • Ethel White. Moved to Campbellsville 1910.
  • Mattie Durnall. Wife of John Durnall and mother of Frances Durnall in this picture.

  • Bessie McClister. Daughter of Hershel McClister. Moved to Waco, TX 1911.
  • Nona Loy. Daughter of Callie Loy. moved to Waco, TX 1912.
  • Carrie Green. Sister of Corda Mae Green.
  • Ella Spoon. Daughter of June and Julian Spoon.
  • Marvin McClister. Brother of Bessie McClister.
  • Milton Wheat. Brother of Letha Wheat.
  • Frances Darnell. Son of Mattie Darnell.
  • Joe Frank Loy. Brother of Nona Loy.
  • Claud Green. Brother of Corda Mae Green.
  • Gobel Wheat. Brother of Letha Wheat.

  • Linda Spoon. Sister of Ella Spoon.
  • Gladys Bennett. Daughter of Tom and Florence Bennett. Married Jim Blair in 1921. Three children.
  • Wint Spoon. Brother of Ella Spoon.
  • Earnest Bennett. Brother of Gladys Bennett. 4 years old. Moved to Indianapolis in 1924. Married Dorothy Akin in 1931. Three Boys.
  • Crawford McClister. Brother of Bessie McClister.
Teacher: Miss Minnie Morrison. She boarded with Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Young, who also paid her salary.
