Where's East 80?

2021-08-23 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Where's East Eighty? Racer Michael Benton stopped on the Public Square to ask the locals sitting by the fountain for help so he could quickly reconnect with his fellow riders. Jackie Montgomery was able to help him get off the round square and onto Jamestown Street which turns into Russell Road which is Hwy 80 East, or "East 80" as we know it, from Columbia to Russell Springs.

The cyclist from Champagne, IL, is part of Rat Racers who met in Chicago and divided into five groups of ten, then broke off in pairs. He said "with all the turns" he got separated from his partner. They don't use interstates, nor phones. He was headed for the Cumberland Gap Tunnel. The winner is the first one at their destination, Harrogate, TN, at the home of the member closest to the destination.
