Bears in the news

2020-07-20 - Photo CM Archive.
For two weekends now ColumbiaMagazine.com has looked back at bear news in the archives after being prompted by the recent sighting and documentation of a real live bear in next door Cumberland County. Mike Watson continued coverage on this subject in his Sunday article about bears in our history and a particular story of "a piece of bad judgment and recklessness". The artwork featured in this picture was instigated in the 1990s by Ed Waggener and produced by son Tom with enthusiastic thoughts that bears were on their way to Adair County, if not already here. Clicking 'read more' goes to the first story of the organization of the Blue Ribbon Bear Board. We will continue the BRBB reports and provide instant reporting of sightings as they happen.
