Russell County Sheriff's Office was first to hire Sgt. Roy

At the retirement dinner for Sgt. Gary Roy, Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston advised him, "Never say you won't be back - I retired in 2017 and the next year I was campaigning for Sheriff of Russell County. Let the good Lord lead you." The Russell County office hired Gary first, he was a native of Patty Ridge Road. Later he was hired by the Columbia Police Department.
