Aerospace program at ACHS celebrated at Board meeting

2019-06-25 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
David Taylor and his wife Kristi proudly stood with their son, Nick, at the June School Board meeting where the high school's Aerospace CTE program was highlighted. Both Nick, a 2018 graduate, and senior Clayton Janes have received their pilots licenses after going through the program.

David, Allen and Nelda Taylor's son, remembered his own days at ACHS. He said he has a hard time believing that 30 years have passed since then - however their upcoming 30 year class reunion is proof that it has. He commented that he enjoys it when his former ACHS classmate, Pen Waggener, runs one of his Dad Ed's Around Adair columns from the 70s and 80s. He remembers hearing about many of those happenings at the time.

Interestingly, both David and Pen grew up to raise sons of their own who would choose the Aerospace programs at their respective high schools in Adair and Shelby Counties and cross paths at Eastern Kentucky University where pilots are being trained as fast as possible to address the shortage of men and women who can fill that job.
