(Ad) Ben Arnold for Mayor for ONE Better Community
2018-11-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo from the candidate.
Arnold for Mayor for ONE Better Community
ONE Tax Tax the people in the city the same as in the county. No 2nd real estate tax. The same or no occupational tax in or out of Columbia city limits. It is fair to City residents and businesses. It encourages developments.
ONE Government One government saves money and is more efficient. Give some of the money back to the citizens and us the rest for economic development, sidewalks, a Park for kids, and improved housing for our poor. The top-heavy bureaucracy pays too much to those in the government.
ONE Community Stop the 'us vs. them' mentality. "We (City) gave the water to them (County)", "The gas belongs to us (City)", "They (County) have a different economic mind set from us (City)". This is not productive. Let's expand gas and sewers to anywhere practical in the county or city that produces economic development, regardless of which government gets the money. Use the profits for all citizens (city and county) and grow our ONE Community.
Officials and employees should serve the citizens, be good stewards of our money, and show how they spend it. Do you the citizens know that: Each city council receives about $12,000 (4 years could produce $300,000 for ___), city employees make 2x the taxpayers, the city makes money from garbage and gas services, and majority of your tax money goes to those there to serve you. Our little town has become an inefficient political structure that does not return fair value to the citizens. This does not support a better life for our citizens.
Low-income housing and renters are the fastest growing part of the city. The poor need help to transition to rent-to-own homes. Pride of home ownership will help upkeep town areas. It is loving. It makes our community more attractive for business. It is the right thing to do.
It is time for change, real change!
