Ruby-throated hummingbird

Ruby-throated hummingbirds are bright emerald or golden-green on the back and crown, with gray-white underparts. Males have a brilliant iridescent red throat. These speedy little birds can beat their wings 53 times a second. They hover often and also fly upside down and backwards. Due to their extremely short legs, they cannot walk or hop.
