Birds of KY - Wily Turkeys at Dale Hollow State Park

2018-05-20 - Dale Hollow State Park, 5970 State Park Road, Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Life must be good for Wild Turkeys living in Dale Hollow State Park. They are big. Don't have and data-driven stats to verify they are bigger, other than Billy Joe Fudge telemetrics - usually reserved for getting the exact poundage of a road crossing wildcat/cougar, from a moving car, at that - just say these turkeys are big, fat and sassy. There are six safely grazing here - maybe only five if the one lookout on the right is omitted. Which raises a question for one not well versed in turkey societal matters: Is there generally one turkey resource officer which acts as a lookout? -- EW. Photo Saturday, May 19, 2018.
