In the Superintendent's Comments at the May School Board meeting, Dr. Pamela Stephens asked representatives of all three volunteer fire departments, Breeding Fire Department, Knifley Fire Department and Columbia Adair County Fire Department, to come to the front for recognition. She said, "for years and years, these men and women have worked so diligently on the Crusade for Children endeavors and have brought so much back to Adair County -- over $1 million to the school system -- so the board challenged each school to give to your efforts for the crusade as well. The schools have provided, with money collected at each, ACMS, ACPC, ACES, ACHS, bus drivers, mechanics, and the Central office, a grand total of $2,618.00.
