Favorite old photo: A parade in Columbia presents questions

2018-02-21 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo from Vonnie Kolbenschlag - from Maxine Walker collection.
This photo is from the collection of Maxine Walker. The year is not given. But one structure, peaking around the corner on the left, is one 40s kids remember: The Hancock Hotel. Anyone know how that dates the photo? The building on the left house the W.I. Ingram store. A question for today: Do you know a prominent Columbia business of 2018 which can trace its lineage to this family? Does anyone know anything about the marching band. It is before the days of Myron Cohen, who came to Columbia High School in the 1950's, because in his days, the W.I. Ingram building had become Columbia Firestone, we think. And how about public safety. The sidewalks were safer then, protected by on street parking and grassy areas and trees. And the businesses? They were thriving. If you have answers, or additional questions, please send using the "Comments" link with this photo. - EW. PS - Sincere thanks to Vonnie Kolbenschlag and Maxine Walker for the photo.
