Bird of KY, Snow Patterns & Flight Pattern

2018-01-19 - Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
This photo was taken with one aim in mind and yielded an unexpected bonus. It was meant to show the immaculate seamless snow on the Adair County campus and beyond, along with intentional clearance patterns in readiness for athletic events and Monday morning's return to school. It shows that quite well. A bonus was the - Canada goose, we think - flying in front of the light standard in the right of the photo. The photo may need to be enlarged especially to see the direction of the bird. Ten minutes earlier, there was a formation of dozens of the birds flying in the direction of the Columbia-Adair County Airport. We wondered if it were a regularly scheduled route between the birds' base on the campus and the air academy at the ariport? Maybe someone is making diary entries on them and knows. Also on downloading, we noticed what may be of interest to those studying the mystery snow formations in Russell County, the snow bars traversing the photo in the foreground. - EW/LW
