Jamestown's Doughboy in winter - 14 Jan 2018

2018-01-15 - Monument Square, Jamestown, Russell County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Coming onto Monument Square on East Cumberland Avenue, Jamestown's Doughboy's grenade appeared to be a giant snowball, being thrown from high over the Bank of Jamestown. But the sobering thought of what was going on 100 years ago, with the end of hostilities still 10 months off quickly dispelled such a notion. Maybe someone knows the conditions in Europe at the time. We frequently hear it called a "Brutal" winter in the United States that year. - EW/LW. Photo 14 Jan 2018.
