A Dressing Down? What's Going on Here?

2017-11-07 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener,
The rest of the story shortly. Just to let you know, the Chief needs help, if one takes a look at his activity report for October 17, 2017, delivered at the Columbia City Council last night, Monday, November 5, 2017, when this photo was taken. The Police Force is not overwhelmed - yet - but is stretch rather thin right now. Click on Read More for that report. And the rest of the story: . It's a posed photo. Councilman Craig Dean fingerpointed for the benefit of the media. Chief Cross was, grinning was not harmed in the staging. Council Member Craig Lasley, left, Council Member, Mark D. Harris, right, was amused, too, as was barely visible CPD Sgt. Junior Murphy. In the background, City Attorney Marshall Loy maintains a mature composure befitting his office, immune to the youngsters 'antics. Just for sake of a conversation card: What should be done to tip the balance in the current crackdown on illegal drugs? Some suggest adding permanent additional officers. Some think a temporary surge, doubling the force with a call-up of experienced police, or something like that until the community is rid of the drug problem. (None of this was discussed in the regular session; just wondering - EW).
