Butterflies of KY: Mystery moth before the rain

2017-09-01 - Harrodsburg or Columbia, KY - Photo by Mike Watson, Adair County Historian.
Mike Watson sends this moth, photographed before the rains started, with a great photo for a mystery this morning. He wrote, "Observed this passive Goodwill shopper late Thursday trying to blend in and making plans for a safe haven during the coming deluge." Anyone know exactly which moth this is? Reply using the Comments link with this photo. We think Polyphemus Moth - the identification would be easier if the underwings were showing, to check for the large "eyes" on that part of the moth. - EW.
