Robert Ellis: Hedge Apple and Shaker Symbol of the Tree of Life

2017-08-12 - Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, 3501 Lexington Road, Harrodsburg, KY - Photo by Robert Ellis.
Hannah Cohoon, an original Shaker, back in 1854, is credited for a drawing of what has been interpreted as her rendition of the Tree of Life, as displayed on the barn. Of course for the believer, the Lord Jesus IS the tree of life. I noticed this resemblance of the Shaker depiction in the hedge apples I have been slicing and drying. It was after my recent visit to the shaker Village and taking the barn photo I noticed the similarities and wondered if Hannah got some her inspiration from the hedge apple? - ROBERT ELLIS, photo copyright Robert Ellis.
