Drug Forum 5 participants didn't let a downpour dampen their enthusiasm for Adair County's concerted concern to eradicate the scourge of illegal drug use, at the Thursday, July 27, 2017, community rally. Most people in the area, in both Magisterial District 7, Terry Hadley's District, and adjacent District 1, Harold Burton's District, will recognize the familiar blue and grey pickup in the foreground belonging to Magistrate Burton, who is present at so many events on Burton Ridge. It was the second drug forum he's attended. Magistrate Hadley could not be present for this one, but sent word of his support and has shown his support in one of the earlier four forums. Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross, moderator of the forums, called on Fiscal Court to increase support for the Sheriff Harrison Moss' office, primarily by provide an ACSO Detective slot, a drug/bomb sniffing dog, and to help the ACSO to lower overall costs with more competitive pay scales.
