The Columbia City Council, seated in background, above, made a number of landmark decisions last night, including taking a baby step toward safe sidewalks, voting to buy the Adair County Little League Park for $1, making new agreements with the Columbia Adair County Fire Department, honoring the late Council Member Joe Moore, and renewing the city's support of the Square Meals Program. At the Council bench, are, from left, clockwise, Councillors Ron Rogers, Pam Hoots, and Mark Harris; City Clerk Rhonda Loy; Mayor Curtis Hardwick, City Attorney Marshall Loy, Councillors Craig Dean, Linda Waggener, and Craig Lasley. Barbara Armitage, standing, of Farmers Market on the Square, gave a progress report on the April 1, 2017, opening of the Farmers Market at its new location on the Municipal Parking Lot at Campbellsville & Merchant Street. She requested the Council renew its support of the "Square Meals" program for the 2017 season and was successful.
