2017-01-13 - CAUD, 109 Grant Lane, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, Columbiamagazine.com(c) .
Thursday evening, January 12, 2017, was a busy one for Adair County Judge Mike Stephens, saw an initiative he is proposing begin to take shape: A Columbia Adair Utilities District (CAUD) entry into the natural gas distribution business. CAUD Board Member Mike Newton proposed a study of the feasibility for such an action, which was recommended by CAUD General Manager Lenny Stone. On a motion by Newton, with a second by Jr. Brown, the CAUD Board unanimously voted to authorize GM Stone to investigate the feasibility. At present, the City of Columbia gas department serves the city, some surrounding areas, and some areas of the county, especially where large poultry producers, big users of natural gas are located. - EW
