Principal Rich with Skylar Hare, student destined for big future

2016-11-17 - Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
Adair County Middle School Principal Alma Rich told the assembly for the November 17, 2016, regular meeting of the Adair County School Board that Skylar Hare, the ACMS sixth grader towering over her, did not dress up just to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. "He comes to school every day in this or similar attire," she said. "He announced that he wanted to 'dress for success'," she said, adding she had no doubt he would find it, as an elected official, a governor or perhaps a senator, "Maybe one day he will be President of the United States," she said. Skylar was accompanied to the event by his parents, Jennifer and Mike Cook, and younger brother Ethan. Hare's clear voice delivered the oath with the eloquence of a Speaker of the House, and drew a sustained round of applause. The new Speaker of the House and Adair County School Board Attorney Jeff Hoover was not present tonight; his role was filled by law partner Coleman Hurt. - Ed Waggener
