Champion Adair Band Pit Crew returns

2016-11-14 - In front of Bettys Flowers & Things Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
Dennis Loy, Adair County Circuit Court Clerk, pulling the pit equipment trailer passes his mother-in-laws flower shop with wife Lisa Loy, mother-in-law Betty Smith, waving to onlookers in front of her shop, and Dennis' mother, Bernice Loy, with him. Loy said this huge victory was one to "just thank the Good Lord for. . . it all came together between State finals and the BOA, peaking at just at the right minute - and that's what counts," he said, "in band competition and politics. Peaking at the right time." Loy shared a story he heard from an Adair Countian who gets a thrill out of the people knowing about the band, first, when he mentions he's from Adair County. The ex-pat said that it was the talk around Lucas Oil Stadium that people watch for this tiny band, at an event where many bands are four times the size. "They're like a chihuahua. They're little but you never know what they will come up with . . . nobody has told them they can't run with the Big Dogs, and man, do they ever!"
