School Board Chairman speaks for CDBG resolution

Adair County School Board Chairman Floyd Burton, standing, spoke in favor of the resolution in support of the $500,000 CDBG application. Recording his statement is Judy Keltner of Lake Cumberland Area Development District, who will file the grant application on behalf of the school district and the City of Columbia. Seated in front of Burton are, foreground, Jennifer Carter, Health Pathways instructor, with four of her students, who spoke at the hearing - and wowed the council. Makayla Smith, far right, drew applause when she told the crowd that an added benefit for her was that now, after taking Healthcare Pathway courses, "I know what the doctor is talking about when I'm at her office." - EW
