Judy Keltner, Columbia, KY, the Associate Director for Community/Economic Development at the Lake Cumberland Add District, led the Public Hearing to determine support for the proposed Adair County School Districts new Community Learning Center/Central Office. Following the hearing and a special called meeting of the Columbia City Council, the Council, with all members present, voted unanimously for a "Resolution of authority/approval authorizing Mayor Hardwick, center, background, to enter into and file the CDBG application to the Department for local government and to additionally authorize him to review and sign any and all necessary documents that may be required for said application and project implementation." The CDBG application is for $500,000. Keltner said that the total project is $6.5 million, with $1,000,000 coming from an Eastern Kentucky "Red Leg" loan, $1,250,000 in a new Adair County School District bond issue, and $3,750,000 from a State of Kentucky Workplace Development grant. - EW
