About this kindergarten thing . . .

2016-08-14 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Dad Tom Waggener.
No one could quite satisfy Matilda Anne's deep, troubling concerns on the first day of school over why one must go into something called Kindergarten just because she turned five years old. And why on earth would something called Southside -- if indeed it's a good thing -- not allow her to bring Bunny and Blankie? They've been with her every day of her life. Until kindergarten. Will Bunny and Blankie be ok during the long school days without their Tillie? Will Southside Elementary School in Shelbyville, KY be good for Tillie? The jury is still out. I'm just sayin', from her grandmother's perspective, they'd better be good to my first granddaughter -- or, as Tillie's great-great grandmother Marcum used to say to me when I was five, running and jumping upstairs, "don't make me come up there!" - Mema, Linda Waggener. Paired photo. See also: More about this school thing . . . , as Cousin Hailey practices her educator skills.
