Ask not what your Commonwealth can do for you . . .

2016-08-06 - Burkesville Road/Chattanooga Road/KY 61 South, Adair County, KY - Photo By Innocent Bystander.
. . . ask what you can do for your Commonwealth, to paraphrase President John F. Kennedy. Eric Thompson and Joe Loy, above, are trimming the right-of-way along Burkesville Road/Chattanooga Road/KY 61 South, Adair County, KY. They're doing it with weed-eaters, but when they are finished, the casual observer won't realize that - the trimmed grass is as level as if trimmed by a lawn mower. The work is paid for by Stotts Contruction Co, owners of a bit of acreage in the area. The Commonwealth isn't out a cent. And it's all done without killing butterflies and other pollinators, either. The company is just carrying out an old-timey idea that property owners take care of right-of-ways in front of their own land. By the way the trash along the way is picked up, too. If you know of situations where landowners are doing similar work, please share that information. CM loves it when people find people doing good, and tell on them. - EW
