Post Commander Joe Hare presides at sale of Fairgrounds

2016-07-22 - VFW Post 6097, 411 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
A Very Historic Occasion - VFW Post 6097 Commander Joe Hare made brief remarks just prior to the signing and notarization of documents transferring ownership of the Adair County Fairgrounds to Lindsey Wilson College. The signing took place at a meeting starting at 5pmCT. Commander Hare said that after the signing the college will take the documents to be recorded at the Adair County Clerk's office, at which time the transfer will be official. He said that agreement with Lindsey Wilson covers 200 years and and will provide income to the VFW over that period. "That means," he said, "that the names of the people signing it will have significance 200 years from now." Signing the documents for the college, at right, is Mark Coleman, Vice President for Financial Affairs. At left, from left, is the Post's Robin Woodrum, and Ronnie Holt. Other VFW signatories were Joe Coffey, Gary Melton, and Travis Giles. Jamie McQueary Murrell notarized the documents. Details of the transaction are expected early next week.
