Swallows Lane - Tell us. we don't know, but would like to

2016-01-04 - Elkhorn Loop, Elkhorn, Taylor County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM.
The street sign is intriguing. It's on the main lane in Historic Elkhorn (or Elk Horn, we've seen it both ways). One of the area's most treasured hidden secrets. Bird enthusiasts may hope there is a connection to swallows, but we're leaning toward another idea. Can anyone share more information? Sun 03 Jan 2016 wasn't our first visit to the delightful hidden community off Elkhorn Road, and accessed through a narrow cut where well maintained property, the Elkhorn Cemetery, and a beautifully maintained United Methodist Church is located - beside this sign. We should have stopped and asked, but we fell into Pooh Bear Mode, some spiral cut, honey-baked turkey, a wonderful Christmas present, was calling us. If you go to Elkhorn/Elk Horn, remember that while the main lane is a public road, you're a visitor in the neighborhood. The residents have done so much to maintain it, you'll want to respect it as though it were a gated city, which it almost is. - CM
