Mrs. Hannie Gibson's window

2015-11-21 - Breeding, KY in southern Adair County - Photo by Linda Waggener.
When Breeding High School was owned by Mrs. Hannie Gibson, the current owner's mother, she made her home in two of the large rooms -- just as Mom and I thought we'd have done had we been able to own an old schoolhouse. Mom went to Bellview School near the Cave Ridge community of Edmonton. My first five years of school were in Sulphur Well where several one-room schools had been consolidated into one long strip across from the United Methodist Church. Country schools in those days were made of sturdy native wood with plenty of windows for good light. Mrs. Hannie's curtain remains and waved in the breeze where the Breeding High School window pane is out.
