HGR 2015 Fall Festival: Horse barn ready for events

The recently horse barn at Homeplace on Green River will host a dog show at Saturday’s Homeplace on Green River Fall Heritage Festival. Other new activities at this year’s festival include a pioneer camp of long hunter re-enactors, a nature scavenger hunt along part of the new five mile trail, vastly extended activities of children, a family game area and a sheltered area for with activities for children 1 to 5. Many of events and activities from prior years will return this year including a day long music program involving six different shows performing a variety of music included gospel, bluegrass, C&W and selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musicals. There will also be food and rides. A $5 parking fee will include three ticket for activities although many of the events including the music are free. Homeplace is a joint effort of Adair, Green and Taylor counties to restore an early Kentucky farm first settled in 1804. The original home still stands. It is an all-volunteer effort. Homeplace on Green River Fall Festival is Saturday, September 12, 2015. Gate opens 8amCT/9amET with last activities beginning 3pmCT/4pmET.
