Favorite old photo: Columbia Baptist Church

2015-09-06 - Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo from the collection of Mike Watson.
Adair County Historian Mike Watson favors readers with this favorite old postcard, which he dates at circa 1940s. It appears to have been taken in spring, when spirea was in bloom. On the left, there's a structure with shakes for a roof. Does anyone know what it might be for sure? Folks will wonder, too, if the black smudges on the white areas of the front of the building are photographic imperfections or if might be from the previous winter's coal soot. Update Hunter Durham points out that the postcard company made a mistake. The church is not "First Baptist Church." That church is on Burkesville Street. It is Columbia Baptist Church.
