Gubernatorial Candidate Jack Conway in Columbia, KY

2015-07-31 - 203 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo.
Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Jack Conway posed with close friend Junior Stotts after most of the crowd which stopped in to support the campaign had left the scene. Conway, now the State's Attorney General, has close ties to Columbia. In addition to friendship with Mr. Stotts, his father is on the Board of Trustees of Lindsey Wilson College, and he was commencement speaker there two years ago. Among the visitors yesterday was George Kolbenschlag, who received an honorary doctorate from Lindsey Wilson at the same time Mr. Conway did. The crowd was swelled by Conway supporters from across the state. Among the local Democratic Party leadership in attendance were Party Chairman Ben Loy and Vicky Pike of the Adair County Democratic Party. Deputy CJE Holly Grimsley and spouse, City Councilman Charles Grimsley, attended and were warmly received, and Adair County CJE Mike Stephens made a brief appearance. The candidate kept security and logistics planners on edge, slightly overstaying his visit to Columbia; he had another big event scheduled for Bowling Green Thursday night. - EW
