During the session, Magistrate Flatt advocated leaving the court's committee membership as in the past. CJE Stephens had presented the option of rotating committees, but the idea was nixed by court members. Mr. Flatt said that rotations shorter than two years would mean a court member would be gaining the experience needed to make meaningful decisions about their designated committee oversight. CJE Stephens was suggesting that each Court Member have a broader scope. In the end, the court voted with Magistrate Flatt. The item came up early in the meeting, before Sixth District Magistrate Greg Caldwell arrived.
