Early riders to Liberty, KY SCC dedication

2015-07-09 - 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Evan Waggener. s
A busload of power figures in Columbia went to Liberty,KY, this morning for the 8:30amCT/9:30amET opening of a new Community Education Center, a satellite campus of KCTCS/Somerset Community College. Above Superintendent Alan W. Reed talked with Mark Dykes, left Chairman of the Columbia/Adair County Economic Development Authority, and right Dr. Ron Rogers, Columbia City Council member, as they waited for others, including Adair County Judge Mike Stephens, to arrive. Superintendent Reed told those on board the Adair County School bus that the Adair County District has show tremendous advances offering dual credit courses for liberal arts with alliances with Lindsey Wilson College, Campbellsville University, Western Kentucky University, and perhaps a dozen other colleges. Now, he said, the district is also emphasizing the vocational side, which, he said, is already paying big dividends. Reed said that an SCC facility, similar to the one they are visiting in Liberty, may be possible in the very near future.
