Demolition work at old Waterworks: New entrance, parking

2015-06-23 - Waterworks Street, Columbia, KY - Photo Waterworks Street, Columbia, KY.
Heavy equipment and a succession of big truck loads of fill material were building up a new entrance on the Fairground Street side of the site of the old Columbia Waterworks yesterday, Monday, June 22, 2015 when this photo was taken. Bradley Hayes, an employee of Pyles Excavating, said that the new entrance, evident just to the right of the tipped dump, will lead to a parking lot for the new Water Park, Paddle Adair trailhead. Some of the fill comes from the existing debris; a large amount is being hauled to the site, as were the two truck loads in the photo. Driver Timmy Black is waiting in the white truck as Chris Morrison unloads. The work is scheduled for completion in early August, before a deadline for funding expires.
