The rest of the story: Larry Mayne painting inspired by photo 2015-06-13 - Burkesville Road/KY 61, Adair Co., KY - Photo photo of painting by Larry Mayne. This is a photo of an original painting now owned by the driver of the buggy, Junior Stotts, by artist Larry Mayne, formerly of Columbia, KY. It was inspired by the paired photo, take in the 1960s when Mr. Stotts' duties, among other things, was to get easements for a old Columbia Utilities water line to Adair County High School. The artist later combined elements of that photo with the old KY 61 roadway, and the Stotts new home on top of the Hill. It was a surprise when Mr. Mayne showed up with the painting in hand, Stotts recalls, presented it to his wife - along with a price for the commissioned work, $500. - which was readily paid. Now the work is destined for a prominent location in Stotts Construction's Madison Square headquarters in Downtown Columbia. Others may remember other Larry Mayne work: There was a painting of the Columbia-Union Presbyterian Church, and, perhaps a painting of courthouse whittlers.
