Crossroads: Patricia Trace & Dohoney Trail, Holladay Place

2015-06-05 - Holladay Place, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Dohoney Trace at Patricia Trail is now part of the City of Columbia Street System, and for some, it will be their most familiar crossroads. Hopefully, the City will add sidewalks and bikeways for guests at the planned Columbia Sleep Inn, for which ground was broken just a little over seven months ago on October 24, 2015 (Click to for Slide show for Friday, October 24, 2014 for photos of that event), to make it easier to shop and dine and leave their cars behind. At one time, the only major crossroads was at the Public Square. Later, Jamestown Street at Russell Road became almost equally important in our minds, and still later, Jamestown Street at Hurt Street would have been, by popular notions, the Uptown Equivalent of the Square. Today, one wonders, with the huge impact of the six week shutdown, at Campbellsville & Fairgrounds Street, if that isn't the most important intersection in town. Certainly that street is where the action is today, and it like Jamestown Hill, is within "Walking Distance of Lindsey Wilson College." - now perhaps the most significant real estate sales phrase in the county. - EW
