Flowers: New Fashioned Double Peonies

Mitzi Bault sent this photo of double peonies, the more popular version of the flower. They are nurtured by Mitzi & husband Ricky Bault at there home above Russell Creek and fronting Green Hills Road. The lane is named for her late father, L.G. "Peanut" McKinley. The flower is so hugely different from the single peony of Billy Joe Fudge/Helen Flatt single peony that the kinship of the two varieties wasn't apparent to many, even seasoned gardeners. Now the issue may be, which is preferred. Or do we just enjoy both. - Ed Waggener
