Tillie day at Salato Center

2015-04-10 - Salato Center at Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, 1 Sportsmans Lane, Frankfort, KY - Photo by Tom Waggener. Tom and Tillie paid a visit to the Salato Center on Thursday. The photos above were all made Thursday, except for the one in the upper right from Easter Sunday. The center is only about one-half hour from her home in Shelby County. It's a favorite place for both parents and children. The kids prefer, most of the time, to go to Salato rather than the Louisville Zoo. The difference, the parents say, is there plenty to see at Salato and there's no pressure to to see it all, as one usually strives to do at the zoo. "It seems everybody leaves a bit grumpy after the zoo, but not at Salato." The Salato Center is less than two hours from downtown Columbia, KY, where Dr. J.C. Salato had his medical practice, and where he lived while a Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Commissioner. The New Jersey native was so popular and respected that a second public building, The Adair County Health Departement at 801 Westlake Drive, is also named for him. - TILLIE'S GRANDDAD & MEMA, Ed and Linda Waggener.
